SYNOPSIS:
| With her parents, 17-year-old and pregnant Yui (Aki Maeda) is planning to give birth at a resort inn owned by her uncle and aunt. Yui is very calm, as if this were happening to some stranger and not to herself. Her parents think her attitude is odd, and are confused by it. A huge blind man, Sakata (Ichiro Yaguchi), lives in a nearby lodge. He has long hair, an unshaven face, wears multiple layers of coats, and uses a ski pole instead of a cane. His appearance is so grotesque that adults stay away from him. Yui becomes interested in this quiet man who only seems to open up to little birds. The contact between Yui and Sakata, both mysterious in their own ways, opens a door to a tragedy of multiple homicides involving the whole family. The fetal activity of humans known as 'monsters' begins to echo in the snowy mountains. |
